3 in race for Enid Mayor and one just made unofficial front runner

...

Guess who showed up at the Enid AgriFest!  And guess who did not! 'Nuff said.

He also told me that KNID, whose AgriFest this is, wanted to schedule a mayoral debate but this particular candidate insist that he wants Commissioner candidates to participate as well.

He also has an interesting platform, taking positions that I took in the race 4 years ago, so this man also gets my endorsement. Basically, his platform is better roads, a lake/reservoir rather than a perpetual commitment to keep the Kaw Pipeline maintained, better industrial/manufacturing development, and better transparency in government.

He checks all the boxes in my books and then some...and the "then some" is this:

  • He never took City money to go to Roman Nose and OKC to party, call it a "retreat" while violating the Open Records Act.
  • He didn't express being in favor of throwing City money at Mainstreet Enid after they got their $40 million funding package--the other two candidates voted in favor.
  • He doesn't own or operate a business that he could use his office to benefit--you know, like an events business he could milk the Parks Dept. Police Dept. resources with.
  • He's aware of the Ernie Courier aspect of the Kaw Pipeline and the side hustles associated with that (as am I).
  • He considers agriculture to be as important as manufacturing--look where he is to talk with that particular important demographic directly.

Ya, I know there's a snag in his Pipeline position, like we've already sunk a small fortune in Phase 1 and we're past that point, at this point, but he knows all the right people to talk to.  On January 18, he speaks to the Enid chapter of the NAACP.

Like I said--notice the two who didn't show up. And notice that Enid celebrity Leona Mitchell showed up. This man has my vote. And my endorsement.
